Matrixia Moya draws largely on Global South performance practice traditions and knowledge through Performance as Research; the legacy of Indian Development practitioners from the 70s to early 2000s, as well as psychodynamic practices through somatics, meditation, Yoga, Authentic Movement, Group Relations and the Jungian based BodyDreaming approach to develop strategies and solutions for a wide range of issues related to health, learning, growth, social justice, ecological justice and leadership today.
Manola Gayatri Kumarswamy, an artistic researcher, teacher and poet leads the projects at Matrixia Moya in collaboration with artists, practitioners and researchers from other disciplinary backgrounds. She completed her PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and two postdoctoral projects at the University of Pretoria and University of Witwatersrand respectively. She convened the International Federation of Theatre Research's Performance as Research Working Group between 2017-2021 and is a graduate of BodyDreaming training.
